Ease Your Nerves, Blow Your Mind

Week Two of Election Season Craft Sanity: Image Transfers

Packing Tape Transfers = Magic!

If you know how or why a week has blown by in five minutes, do let me know. I have a draft in process for HHB “regular programming” but it’s a skosh delayed because I wanted, no, needed to get this next craft to you.

I stand by the healing power of making things. It’s pretty much the original mindfulness technique. The technique this week, packing tape transfers, has the added benefit of image-making magic so it’s sure to spark a bunch of other ideas. New ideas are the anecdote to anxiety, rumination, the hum-drums, worry, boredom, fiddle-faddling, wallowing, etc.

Just like the Party Flowers last week, this one doesn’t take a lot of time or set up.

What You’ll Need

Magazines, packing tape, container for water, and scissors

Extras/Good to Have

Towel/rag and any glass or clear plastic thing you want to slap a cool image on

The video above goes over the whole process. You’ll be a multi-media artist in the time it takes to check your email. As an emailer of craft videos and blog posts, I should say I am glad you check your email.

If you catch the image transfer bug, I highly recommend Playing with Image Transfers: Exploring Creative Imagery for Use in Art, Mixed Media, and Design by Courtney Cerruti.

In case anyone reading is a video production professional, I appreciate y’all looking past my blown-out footage. Still working on my set up and cannot afford a colorist at this time.
